Music is an important part of a Quinceañera celebration, and it can sometimes be a source of contention as everyone's ideas and desires come into play. Often, the Quince's parents and other family members want traditional, live music, such as a mariachi band, while the Quince girl and her friends want to dance the night away to modern music provided by a DJ. One way around the band vs. DJ dilemma is to have both at the reception. It's becoming a popular trend to have a live band during dinner to offer slower, moodier background music. The band could even provide music for the Court dance and the Quince’s dance with her father.
